Cross Connections’ Covenant Partner training takes place over a period of 18-months and is taught in three specific tracks; Track I Biblical Foundations, Track II Focus Areas, and Track III Practices and Procedures. Completion of each track is required to become a commissioned Covenant Partner and meet with clients as part of our ministry.
In order to take our Covenant Partner training, you must belong to a Cross Connections member church and be recommended by your pastor. To find out if your church is a member, click here.
TRACK I : BIBLICAL FOUNDATIONS
This first track focuses on the biblical principles that form the bedrock of our counseling philosophy and techniques. Track I meets weekly for two-hour classes over a period of three months for a total of twelve sessions. Each class focuses on different biblical principles and the application of those principles in serving people referred by their pastors from our Cross Connections member churches.
TRACK II : FOCUS AREAS
In Track II Covenant Partner trainees focus their training in one of the following four categories: (1) emotions, (2) family & parenting, (3) marriage, divorce & remarriage, and (4) transitions (grief and loss). Track II is taught in these four separate categories in a series of two-hour classes over a period of twenty weeks.
TRACK III : PRACTICES AND PROCEDURES
In Track III Covenant Partner trainees focus on building counseling skills. They take part in multiple role-plays, including a session where they are taped and their skills are then critiqued and refined. This ensures that each covenant partner is fully equipped to work with clients following their commissioning. Track III consists of twelve weeks of two-hour classes and a day-long seminar.
Our next training class begins on August 2012. If you are interested in covenant partner training contact our Covenant Partner Coordinators via email or by calling (260) 744-3228 Amy Rast (ext. 345) or Vicki Graft (ext. 304).
